The Tax Day that Wasn’t….
STIMULUS CHECKS
Stimulus checks have started to go out. We have received multiple calls regarding changes to their information – things like changes in marital status, bank account information, addresses, etc. We have been monitoring the IRS website daily for updates on how to get those changes to the IRS.
Just yesterday they updated the website to allow for you to go online to update your information and check on status of your stimulus check.
Please click on the link below that will take you to the Economic Impact Payments page of the IRS website. Click on the “Get My Payment” button and this is where you can check your payment status, confirm your payment type (direct deposit or check) and also update your banking information.
NEW TAX DEADLINES
While yesterday normally is a big deadline for individuals, trusts, and some entities, this year it was just another day. The IRS and most states (including Kansas and Missouri) have extended the filing AND payment date for 2019 tax returns until July 15, 2020. In addition, 1st quarter 2020 payments are also extended until July 15th. For now, most 2nd quarter payments are still due June 15th, but those dates are starting to shift to July 15th as well. We will update as necessary.
2019 RETURNS
If your returns are complete, then you are good to go for now. If your returns are in process, we are continuing to work to complete those returns as soon as possible. We
are continuing to prepare and process returns now -- we want to complete the tax season so we can move on to planning for 2020.
